Q
: How does the EyeSea System work?
A: The EyeSea system is a true underwater
sonar, i.e. it transmits and receives ultrasonic waves. With
the EyeSea, XIOS successfully combined sonar techniques previously
reserved for military use to the latest commercial electronics.
As a result, XIOS is able to offer a product featuring unrivaled
performances and a very attractive price.EyeSea is composed
of two subsystems:- The EyeSea TX, transmitter of ultrasonic
waves, immersed underneath the dive boat.- The EyeSea RX,
which receives the ultrasonic acoustic waves from the transmitter,
extracts the distance and direction data and display them
to the diver through a LCD screen.
Q:
What is the information provided by the EyeSea system?
A: The EyeSea system provides the diver continuously and in
real time with his distance and direction to his starting
point. The diver is therefore able to find his way back safely,
even if there is absolutely no visibility. In addition, the
EyeSea system features a unique emergency recall function.
This function allows to alert the divers of an emergency situation
so that they can come back quickly to the boat.
Q: What are the advantages of the EyeSea
system over other navigation systems?
A: First, the diver does not have to
hold something in his hand. The receiver is worn on the wrist,
like a regular watch. The EyeSea is also extremely simple
to use: it only has one button, the ON/OFF!! Once in the water,
the distance and direction are displayed automatically. Lastly,
the EyeSea systems operate on 360 degree, independently of
the diver's position: no need to stop and turn around in order
to find the direction!! And let's not forget the 3000 feet
range and the multi-channel capability.

Q: How do you actually
use the EyeSea in real dive situations?
A: After activation and selection of
the transmitting channel, the transmitter EyeSea TX and receiver
are synchronized in a basin filled with water. The TX transmitter
is positioned at a depth of approximately 15 feet underneath
the boat. Alternatively the receiver will be automatically
synchronized with the transmitter when the dive enters the
water, close to position of the transmitter. Once in the water
the Receiver EyeSea will determine automatically the frequency
used by the transmitter and will start displaying the distance
and direction. These data are updated automatically and in
real time throughout the dive.

Q: Is there a limitation on the maximum number
of divers capable of using the same transmitter?
A:No, because the EyeSea RX receiver
is totally passive: it does not transmit any signal nor does
it relay the signal from the transmitter. As a matter of fact,
an infinite number of receivers can operate on the same transmitter.
You can compare the operation of the EyeSea System with the
AM/FM radio. For any given radio station, there is no limitation
on the number of radio sets capable of receiving the programs
from this station.

Q: What is the use of a multi-channel system?
A: With a multi-channel system, you
can manage independently several boats on a same site without
any risk of interference. For example, if the transmitter
of boat number 1 is set on channel F1 and the one of boat
number 2 is set on channel F2, boat#1 divers will have their
receiver automatically tuned to channel F1, and conversely
the receivers of divers from boat #2 will automatically tune
to channel F2. Such a system ensures that divers will find
their own boat. There is no risk of interference, even if
divers from different boats are actually all at the same location.

Q: Is the EyeSea System sold with a warranty?
A: Yes, XIOS offers to the first (original) owner a one year
manufacturing warranty, parts and labor, on each EyeSea purchased.
Q: Where can I purchase the EyeSeaTM Sport?
A: The EyeSea System is only sold through
dive specialty retailers, also commonly referred to as "
pro-shops".

Q: Is it possible to buy the RX and the TX
separately?
A: Yes. The Receiver and Transmitter
can be bought separately from your authorized dealer.
